Foundation reaches the half $1 million mark in funding

It's happened! The Inner North Community Foundation has donated over $500,000 to our community in the inner north of Melbourne since becoming a local philanthropic resource 4 years ago.

It's a great feeling knowing that this money has gone to fantastic projects all across the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne and helped many local people. Thank you to everyone who has donated to us, without your help this great achievement would not have been possible. We'd like to acknowledge the generous support of the Portland House Foundation and the INGT Group who have been instrumental in our ability to continue doing great work.

We thank all our supporters and hope that you will continue to work with us on our mission to break down barriers to employment for many more disadvantaged local people.

Koorie Night Market

The Inner North Community Foundation is pleased to invite you to the Koorie Night Market 'Christmas Extravaganza!' The markets happening on 17 December 2011 from 4pm - 7pm at the Northcote Town Hall are being funded by us as part of the Inner North Community Foundation's Small Indigenous Grants Round.

The Koorie Night Market boasts a collective of over 150 market stall holders with a vast array of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander arts, crafts, food, music and dance. The stalls and markets provide an opportunity for Indigenous people to rebuild their cultural heritage and reclaim their Indigenous identity. The KNM also gives vendors the opportunity to experience generating their own income and being self employed. If you're starting the hunt for a nice holiday gift, the KNM is a great place to find something special!

Hall of Fame

We're pleased to report that the Inner North Community Foundation's founding Chair and current Deputy Chair, the Hon. Alan Brown, has been inducted into the Australian Community Philanthropy Hall of Fame, receiving the 2011 Award for Excellence and Achievement for his work in the development of Australian
community foundations.

Alan has been involved with community foundations for more than nine years, being the founding Chairperson of both the Inner North Community Foundation and the Bass Coast Community Foundation, the latter being established in 2002.

Alan’s contribution has been invaluable, as he gives freely of his time, knowledge and vast experience. He was also instrumental in gaining the support of the Inner North Community Foundation's key founding donor, Inner Northern Group Training, resulting in a 10 year pledge of commitment and support.

We would like to congratulate Alan and express that we look forward to his continued involvement with community foundations and Australian philanthropy.

Gaetano's Gift

Since being elected in 2008, Councillor Gaetano Greco has pledged half his council allowance to help fund projects across the city of Darebin. His generous donations to us are a fantastic example of giving where you live to assist local communities.

Read more about his donation to the Darebin community on the Northcote Leader newspaper's website. To see how you can give perpetual gifts to your community, visit our 'Get Involved' section! Or click on the 'Donate Today' button.

Thank you for a memorable and successful 2011
grant round event

With over 65 attendees, 14 grant recipients, and a new documentary to share with the community, we were very happy that our event helped draw together people from across the inner north who share such an affinity with community work as we do.

Our guests included Adam Bandt, Federal MP for Melbourne, Cr Alison Clarke, the City of Yarra Mayor, and other friends of the foundation who are made up of donors, project participants, and colleagues.

Congratulations to all our grant recipients for 2011! We look forward to seeing all of your fantastic projects in action.
