Successful 2011 Grant Round
With over 65 attendees, 14 grant recipients, and a new documentary to share with the community, we were very happy that our event helped draw together people from across the inner north who share such an affinity with community work as we do.Our guests included Adam Bandt, Federal MP for Melbourne, Cr Alison Clarke, the City of Yarra Mayor, and other friends of the foundation who are made up of donors, project participants, and colleagues.Congratulations to all our grant recipients for 2011!
$200,000 in funding to the local community
2011 marked the Foundation’s fourth year of funding local employment based projects. We were extremely proud to announce that over $200,000 in funding to local community organisations was delivered.
Portland House Foundation committed $65,000 to our 2011 grants
In the days before we closed for Christmas we received possibly the best present anyone could hope for…a letter from Portland House Foundation confirming $65,000 in co-funding towards our 2011 grant round! This takes their total co-funding contribution to $130,000 over the past 3 years. If the steady stream of donations from local residents continues, we’ll be on track to reach our aim of continually increasing the amount of funding we offer each year. On behalf of the organisations that will benefit from expanded grant funding in 2011, we say a huge thank you to Portland House Foundation for their continued support and three cheers to all the local residents who open their wallets for their community too.

PAF Enquiry
Submission Response to Public Ancillary Fund EnquiryIn December 2010 the Federal Government released a Discussion Paper canvassing a number of changes to the regulations governing Public Ancillary Funds. The proposed changes could have a signficant impact on the sustainability of community foundations and may therefore reduce funding availability to the community over the longer term. While we support the intention of the changes (i.e. high accountability and commitment to community) we are of the view that existing regulations, if enforced, would achieve the Government’s intended outcomes.
