Inner North Action Fund

The Inner North Action fund enables the Foundation to respond to community needs as they arise. It has supported the Young Changemakers Program, The Covid 19 Disaster Relief Fund, and the Inner North Report process, and allows for partnerships with other funding bodies.

It was established by a funding challenge by the Victorian State Government in 2009 where community foundations that raised $100k were given $300k. The government of the time sought to develop a stronger role for community foundations across Victoria and to provide funds that:

  • “are held in perpetuity by the local community to provide for locally determined needs into the future,
  • support initiatives that build relationships between business, philanthropy and the local community,
  • ensure that the community foundation has strong locally connected governance,
  • develop the profile and capacity of the community foundation, and
  • assist communities of disadvantage within the area covered by the foundation”.

The initial gift of $400,000 has grown with the donations of local people, and now enables the Foundation to support activity that is important to our local community. Donations welcome.
