About the Little Sisters of the Poor, Northcote

Since opening their doors in 1884, priority for admission has been given to the poorest, fundraising and reliance on private donations and volunteers has always been a feature of St Joseph’s Home.

The passionate dedication of the Little Sisters has been matched by many generous philanthropists, collaborators and local community people who have supplemented the income for St Joseph’s to   ensure the poorest people could be served.  Sharing a common   vision, many have worked tirelessly to attract financial donations, running public fundraisers, attracting government funding, and engaging volunteer time to keep the Home operating and progressing.  This has created a lasting legacy which has also  enriched the lives of those who give.

People are most  welcome to visit and see first-hand the building and the work of the Sisters.
