Dr Prahba Apte

Dr Prahba Apte was Professor of Political Science in Ranchi Mahila Vidyalaya, Ranchi (Jharkhand), SNDT Mahila Vidyapeeth, Mumbai and Ramnarayan Ruia College, Mumbai. She had special interest in Education and the lives of women. Her articles on ‘Mumbaitil stree shishkanachi vatchal–1876 to 1950, & ‘Women’s position in Mumbai’s labour movement’ and a treatise ‘Woman’s position in Indian Society, written for Vanasthali Vidyapeeth’, Rajasthan, are worth mentioning. Her article ‘Naitikmulyanna japanareshishksn-shastri : Dr Savarpalli Radhakrishan’, is a tribute to the late Dr Radhakrishan. Dr Apte has done a great service to Marathi literature by writing books on political science, biographies, short stories, editing, etc. Her two books namely : Panditi Nehru and Parliamentary Practices, and Kusumagraj-ek mahamanav have received the best literary awards from the Government of Maharashtra.
