Creating a will which outlines how you would like your money allocated allows you to provide for your loved ones and make a considerable difference to your community.
When you leave a legacy gift in your will, what you nominate will be looked after and distributed as you have set out by our Foundation.
Your gift will be managed to continue supporting the community for generations to come. Typically gifts are made with a view that capital will be responsibly invested, to generate an annual dividend that supports community activity in the inner north.
You can give in three ways:
- to the Inner North Action Fund
- to an existing Community Fund or MyFund
- to a new fund established in your name
Speak with your loved ones, then consult your lawyer, accountant or financial advisor. If needed, please see below sample gift in will wording.

Leave a legacy, not a mess
We know that end of life is difficult for people, and not everyone knows exactly what to do about it.
Leave a Legacy, Not a Mess is a community resource to help people make it easier for their family and friends to manage their estate when they die. It consists of a list of things people could consider doing now to tidy up their estate and avoid the often difficult issues which arise for those left behind.
In consultation with our community, we have developed this checklist. We hope you like it – contact us if you would like a printed copy.
Let us know if:
- You’d like us to present the information and provide hard copies to a group of local people
- You have a great local law firm that helps with estate planning you’d like to refer
- You have suggestions or feedback about how to make the list better
This project was led by Bonnie Lockart, with the support of Kevin Sharp. Thanks to the many community members who gave input, and to the Jumpstart Fund.
Other community foundations are welcome to use the learnings and templates as open source, please get in touch for templates and a How To guide.
