The new Inner North Report 2025 updates the original released four years ago. Covering eight domains, it offers key statistics to spark conversation about how our community has shifted since 2022.
We launched the report with conversations involving some 50 members of the inner north community at the Jika Jika Community Centre, and this is the fourth of our snapshots of our inner north community. See them all here.
The report shows where we stand—but not why. Those insights come from the community itself. Over the past four years, people have seen change in some areas, and little in others.
The 2025 update is sobering: homelessness has risen, poverty continues, violence persists, and mental health challenges are growing. The conclusion is clear—our biggest challenges remain unresolved.
This report is a tool, not just a snapshot. We encourage people to use it in your own work to back up what you see on the ground, to continue pushing for change, and to show where progress has been made. Some wins are worth celebrating, even if the overall picture is tough—because they show that local effort matters, and that communities can shift the dial.
These issues are complex, beyond local action alone. With support of local partners, the Inner North Community Foundation has funds ready to support solutions, and is actively seeking more contributions. A community forum will now be convened to take a “deep dive” into priorities and decide where to focus next. Please get in touch for more information.
